What is DeMolay?
In a nutshell, the Order of DeMolay is the world's largest fraternity for young men 12 to 21 years of age.
Started in 1919, DeMolay has approximately 1,000 chapters in the United States as well as chapters in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, Panama and the Philippines.
DeMolay is an organization that provides young men with a place to have fun, experience fellowship and learn and practice leadership skills in a good and wholesome environment. DeMolay is distinctly different than college fraternities which do not provide the same opportunities that DeMolay does.
DeMolay creates an environment for young men conducive to growing, maturing, and developing into caring and contributing members of society. Unlike most organizations for young people, DeMolay is unique in that members actually organize and manage their own activities.
Today, DeMolay is a modern organization which helps its members develop civic awareness and responsibility. It provides young men the opportunity to learn leadership techniques and then practice those techniques in local chapters.
DeMolay accomplishes all of these great things for young men while teaching them seven of life's basic principals:
- Love of Parents
- Respect for religious beliefs and opinions of others
- Courtesy
- Comradeship
- Faithfulness
- Cleanness
- Patriotism
